13th Congress Sponsor Program

In 2007 the new priority points system has been implemented for a pilot period of three years. This system has been reviewed by the corporate sponsors and was discussed with them during the 11th Congress in Amsterdam and the 12th Congress in Vienna. The system will be evaluated with the corporate sponsors during the meetings at future congresses.

Priority points system

In order to integrate the corporate sponsorship program of the EHA (see page 8) into the EHA Congress Sponsorship Program, a new priority points system has been implemented.

Over the years the financial contributions from the pharmaceutical industry to the EHA and EHA congresses have been increasing, allowing EHA to launch several new and important projects and to reinforce the infrastructure of the organization.
The different sponsor levels for the EHA congresses and the Corporate Sponsor Program constitute the basis for allocating the preferences of the industry. As EHA has recently received more companies particularly at the GOLD sponsor level, the individual benefit for a particular GOLD sponsor has diminished. Until the 11th Congress all GOLD sponsors had “first” priority. The new points system makes the priority level more transparent. The system has been developed to encourage further development of the Corporate Sponsor Program for the Association and is based on the following criteria:

1 Level at which the company participates in the Corporate Sponsor Program, and the number of years signed for in the current contract.

2 Seniority of corporate sponsorship i.e., the number of consecutive years the company has supported the EHA Corporate Sponsor Program.

3 Advertising in Haematologica/The Hematology Journal.

4 New EHA members from September 1, 2006 - May 1, 2007.

5 Support of EHA Scientific Workshops in 2008.

6 Contribution to the EHA congress, during the last year (12th Congress in Vienna) a. booth size

b number of invited participants

c satellite symposium

d other congress contribution (advertisements, second satellite et cetera).

7 Seniority of congress sponsorship: contributions to previous congresses. A maximum of the three most recent congresses will be taken into account. A booth and/or a satellite symposium at a congress in the last three years each counts as 5 points (maximum of 30 points).

To calculate the number of points:

Corporate sponsoring

1 Corporate sponsor level in 2008 multiplied by the number of years the agreement has been signed for *

2 Seniority: 10 points for 1 year history of sponsoring EHA up to and including 2007.

3 Advertising in the journal: 2 points per advertisement placed between July 1, 2006 and June 30, 2007.

4 New EHA members from September 1, 2006 to May 1, 2007: 1 point per 5 members **.

5 Support of EHA Scientific Workshops in 2007; 5 points per workshop with a maximum of 10 points per year.

Congress Contribution to 12th Congress in Vienna

6a Booth size 1 point per 10 m2.

6b Number of invited participants: 1 point per 10 participants ***.

6c Organizing satellite symposia 15 points per symposium.

6d Other congress contribution 2 points per 10,000 Euro.

Congress Contribution to 9th, 10th and 11th Congress

7. Seniority: A booth and/or a satellite symposium at a congress in the last three years: 5 points each (maximum 30 points).

*Please note that gold sponsors will receive 100 points/year; silver 70, bronze 40, contributor (10-39). **The date of submission of the list with new EHA members (September 1, 2006 - May 1, 2007) for points for the 13th Congress haspassed. The list of new EHA members (September 1, 2007 - May 1,2008) for points for the 14th Congress will have to be submitted tothe EHA office before June 12, 2008. Please mention priority points in the subject of the message.

Options For Sponsors

The congress organizers offer companies various opportunities to sponsor the 13th Congress of the European Hematology Association in Copenhagen (see list of modules below). From this list sponsors may select different elements up to the limit of their financial support. Companies can sponsor an element individually or – where possible, acceptable to all and appropriate – in combination with another sponsor.
If a sponsor would like to organize an event before, during or after the congress it needs the approval of the congress organizers. Sponsors are not allowed to plan their own event parallel to congress events.

Within the congress sponsorship the priority points system determines the priority in selecting the sponsor’s items. Sponsors with the highest number of priority points have first choice. You will find more detailed information below. Your company is invited to apply for different sponsor opportunities.

Sponsors will be announced in the upcoming announcements and in the final program. Sponsors are free to make their selection from the list of sponsor opportunities including three modules: satellite symposia, additional sponsorship options and exhibition space.
