EHA Partner Fellowship Program

Sharing knowledge and expertise and creating strong, dynamic networks for hematology is the EHA mission. One of EHA's goals is to promote the career development of young scientists involved in basic, clinical and experimental research in hematology in new accession and EU candidate countries. Therefore a Partner Fellowship Program has been developed.

EHA Partner Fellowship Program 2008

Goals

  • To set up a partner fellowship program with centers of excellence in Western Europe in order to support the career development of young scientists involved in basic and clinical research in hematology in new accession and EU candidate countries
  • To build up and create inter-institutional networks of collaboration between Hematology Institutes in Western European focusing on research and clinical hematology and similar Institutes in new accession and EU candidate countries

Eligibility

  • Applicants should hold an MD and/or PhD or equivalent and be engaged in clinical and/or biological research in hematology
  • Applicants must reside in one of the following countries: Bulgaria, Greek Cyprus, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania and Turkey
  • Applicants must have graduated since 1990
  • Applicants must be, or become, member of EHA when submitting their application

Funding

  • Funding for a maximum of 3 years of € 35,000 per year
  • The Western European host institute will receive € 10,000 per year to cover administrative and other costs
  • Recipient will receive a salary of € 25,000 per year which will be paid through the home institute
  • Home and host institutes must be research and/or clinical hematology centers and should provide Letters of Intent to establish collaboration between both institutes and facillitate exchange of fellows
  • The Host institute must provide all facilities for the applicant’s project.
  • The successful applicant must return to work in the home institute for at least one year after the training period or otherwise refund the entire financial support as penalty
