EHA Scientific Working Groups

Main objectives of the EHA Scientific Working Groups (SWG)

  • To initiate and create scientific networks that serve under the umbrella of EHA
  • To promote high quality science during the annual congress
  • To attract basic scientists to the annual congress

Structure and obligations of the SWG

  • Chair with a term of 3 years. Chair has to be a member of EHA
  • Executive committee with the same term as the chair.
  • The SWG should be open to anyone with professional interests in the particular area of the SWG and contact information should be available on the EHA website
  • An annual report on activities of the SWG should be delivered to the EHA Office, for subsequent publication on the EHA website, and in the EHA newsletter.
  • The term of each SWG will be 3 years. After the three year period each existing SWG may re-apply to the EHA board for renewal of their status

SWG activities during the EHA Annual Congress

  • A SWG can apply for a slot during the Annual Congress, and is in charge of preparing the program.
  • Slots at the annual congress may be given every 1-2 years based on the scientific merit of the program, and the requirement that it provides a substantial contribution to the scientific program of the congress.
  • The Scientific Program Committee (SPC) should approve the SWG meeting program and may select between SWGs if there is more applications than slots.
  • The SWG meetings should be open to anyone with professional interests in the particular area of the SWG. Participants should be registered for the congress.
  • If a SWG decides to participate at the Annual Congress the chairman of the group should submit a program and speakers details to the SPC before the end of the of the preceding year.

EHA offers the following to SWG's participating at the Annual Congress

  • Meeting room and equipment
  • Free registration for chairperson and speakers
  • Invitation to the president’s dinner for chairperson

Application to form a SWG

  • To be registered as a SWG for a specific year, an application should be submitted before the end of September of the preceding year. In this application the SWG should indicate whether they want to apply for presenting a program at the following EHA Congress.
  • Application form should be completed and CV of chair of SWG should be included and sent to: EHA Executive Office, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Email: i.vanderbeek@ehaweb.org

Application for a SWG meeting during the Annual Congress
