Part A - General Information
1 APPLICATION DEADLINE
December 15
Applications accepted in April will be for workshops beginning the following year. I.e. applications accepted in April 2008 will be for workshops in 2009. Workshops are held two or three times a year in Mandelieu, France; they start on a Friday afternoon and end on Sunday afternoon.
2 APPLICATION SCREENING
Professor Hartmut Döhner is a member of the EHA Executive Board and EHA Education Committee and is the appointed Project Leader for EHA Scientific Workshops.
- When selecting topics for scientific workshops, he and the EHA Education Committee will favor workshops that present state-of-the-art science and topics that may not readily receive funding from industry.
- Workshops will cover subjects which are complementary to those presented at the EHA Annual Congress. Each session should include a sub-topics presented by invited international speakers with ample time allocated for discussion.
3 ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
When applying to organize an EHA Scientific Workshop, potential chairs must provide:
- The preferred dates for their workshop either in October or February. When selecting a date, chairs should undertake to ensure that other major meetings covering similar topics do not coincide with the meeting they would like to organize.
- A description of the proposed workshop’s objectives, the targeted audience, and an overview of what the participants stand to learn.
- A teaching manual will be distributed to the participants and the speakers of the Workshop. Therefore Chairs and Speakers should accept to contribute a 2-3-page summary of their lecture accompanied by a list of references to guide further reading.
- A preliminary program including a list of provisional speakers and topics to be covered.
- All speakers and chairs are required to complete an on-line disclosure form at http://cme.ehaweb.org/ to report any potential conflict of interest.
4 WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS
ESH-EHA Scientific Workshops are intended to promote informal interaction and discussion between scientists and clinicians working in the field and should be developed for an audience of up to approximately 200 participants.
- Participants may also contribute to the workshop by submitting an abstract which may be selected for either a poster or a short oral presentation.
5 MEETING REPORT
The EHA Education Committee encourages Chairs of accepted Workshops to submit either a concise summary report or a separate manuscript for publication in Haematologica/The Hematology Journal.
6 BUDGET
EHA has budgeted 60 000 Euros for the organization of each workshop.
